Under the Rules of the Club, the Committee has discretion to make a subscription refund “to a Member who becomes unable to use the Club for a substantial part of the year on account of injury, illness or departure from the district.”
The table below shows how the Committee will normally exercise this discretion in four particular situations.

| Member leaves to join another tennis club | No refund |
| Member unable to play, due to injury or illness, for less than 4 months | No refund |
| Member unable to play, due to injury or illness, for 4 months or more | Period of injury (complete months) less 1 month (administration charge) |
