The late Jackie Major was dearly remembered yesterday (Sunday, 15 May 2011) at a special event held at the Club. A full six courts of social tennis, and a tea of which Jackie would have been proud, celebrated her long-term involvement not just with Avondale but also the Aldershot & District League and the Hants & IOW LTA.
Always cheerful and laughing, Jackie died at the end of 2010 after a long struggle with illness. A rose was planted in her memory by her niece, Philippa, who said ‘It’s lovely that she is remembered here at Avondale which was so much part of her life.’
