Farewell Sarah

The club house was packed for our coffee morning to say farewell to Sarah Duncalf who is emigrating to Australia. It was set for a Monday as there are usually about 20 people playing in the Social Mix-in. The hope was that most of them would choose to stay. They did! – and easily the same number came along too just to have the chance to give their good wishes to Sarah in person. Sarah has been a stalwart of the club for many years. If you have ever wondered who has been keeping the clubhouse looking so immaculate, it has been Sarah, for over 19 years!

Here are some of her comments from her thank you card. “What a truly wonderful send off you gave me. I was overwhelmed by the number of you who came. I felt humbled by the effort everyone put in. I had no idea so much organisation had gone into setting up the morning for me.” It just went to show how popular and well-regarded she was. And I liked her PS comment “And what a good feeling it was not having to clean up after the party!”

Our thanks to Linda Robson who did most of the organising, to those who made the lovely cakes, especially to Debra Norton for the Bon Voyage cake and to everyone who came along to make it such a special occasion for Sarah.

Sarah will be in Australia by now with her son. We wish her every happiness there.
